On Tuesday afternoon the first OHSAA Football computer rankings came out for the seven divisions and 28 regions.  Of the 11 high schools in Lake County that have football programs only four would qualify for the playoffs if the season ended today.

The four teams that are in the playoffs as of the first rankings are the Mentor Cardinals (Division 1, Region 1), Willoughby South Rebels (Division 2, Region 5), Perry Pirates (Division 4, Region 13) and Kirtland Hornets (Division 5, Region 17).

Four teams that are on the outside looking in right now but still have a shot at getting in to the post season are the Madison Blue streaks who are ranked 12th (eight teams qualify for the playoffs in each region) in Division 2 region 5. The Eastlake North Rangers who rank 16th in D2, R5, the Wickliffe Blue Devils, who probably have the best shot to make it of the four rank 9th in D5, R17.  Rounding out the four in the hunt is the Fairport Harding Skippers who are ranked 12th in D7 R25.

The final three teams in the county that have virtually no shot at post season are the Painesville Riverside Beavers who rank 20th in D2, R5, Lake Catholic Cougars who are 17th in D4, R13 and finally the Painesville Harvey Red Raiders who rank 25th in D3, R9.
