Wickliffe wins CVC finale 3-1 over Beachwood
Tuesday night the Beachwood Bison soccer team visited Wickliffe for a CVC match with the Blue Devils. The Devils entered the match 8-2-1 and needed a win to improve their seeding for the post season. They picked up the win they needed as they took down the Bison 3-1.
Beachwood got on the board first with 25:44 left on the clock in the first half when Spencer Shroge put the ball in the back of the Wickliffe net.

The Blue Devils tied the game late in the first half when Junior Nick Telisman blasted
a laser past Beachwood's goalkeeper to tie the game with just 1:56 left in the first half. The goal by Telisman was somewhat improbable as he had left the game injured just minutes earlier when he hit hard on a legal hit by a Beachwood player. The game remained tied at the half time mark.

The Blue Devils outshot the Bison 12-2 in the first half. The trend continued in the second half.

Just 5:41 into the second half Junior Jonny Abramczyk smashed the ball into the net from the right corner to give the Blue Devils a 2-1 lead with 34:19 on the clock.

The final goal of the game came 4:19 later at the 30:00 point of the second half and once again came off the foot of Abramczyk. The Junior was assisted on the goal by Telisman and gave Wickliffe an insurmountable 3-1 lead.

The Wickliffe defense continually stymied the Bison throughout the contest led by Junior's Nick Colbert and Daniel Kishmarton, as well as Seniors Brady Wilson and Joe Gamiere. Sophomore Gianni LaPaglia also contributed to the stellar defensive effort. Junior Goalkeeper J.T. Brenneman had a relatively easy night as the Bison only had four shots in the entire match.

Wickliffe finished the match with an unofficial total of 21 shots on the Beachwood goal.

With the win, the Blue Devils improve to 9-2-1 on the season and should have helped their chances for a pretty good seed in the playoffs.

The Blue Devils will play their next match on Saturday at home against Columbia High School Raiders at 1:00 p.m.
