The great thing about baseball is you play almost every day, therefore it's easy to forget a bad game. On Saturday night the Lake County Captains were shutout by the Great Lakes Loons 7-0 and not much went. Sunday was a new day and the scoreboard showed it as the Captains beat the Loons 4-2 in front of a crowd of 1,447, on an absolutely beautiful day at Classic Park.

The Captains got on the board early in the second inning when Mejia led of the frame with a double to left field. Mejia crossed the plate two hitters later when Connor Marabell grounded out to the pitcher Dennis Santana.

Lake County put their second run on the board in the fifth inning when with two outs Bobby Ison drew a walk. Nathan Lukes then singled to center field and Ison moved to third base. Ison finally scored when Sam Haggerty singled to the shortstop, giving the Captains a 2-0 lead.

The Captains tacked on two more runs when Great Lakes brought in reliever Marcus Crescentini and to say he didn't have good stuff would be an understatement as he issued four base on balls and a single.

The Loons came back in the top of the eighth inning and put two runs on the board, but that was it.

Starter Tom Pannone picked up the win for the Captains. With the win Pannone 1-0 with a 0.64 ERA. Dennis Santana took the loss for the Loons. With the loss Santana falls to 0-2 with a 3.68 ERA.

The Captains will hit the road on Monday for a seven game road trip. The trip will start in Comstock Park Michigan against the West Michigan Whitecaps at 6:35 pm. Right hander Casey Shane will make the start for the Captains. Shane is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA. Eudis Idrogo will make the start for Whitecaps. Idrogo is 0-1 with a 12.27 ERA.
