Wednesday afternoon the Lake County Captains and Fort Wayne TinCaps played a twin bill at Classic Park. Fort Wayne destroyed the Captains in game one 8-1 and in game two the story was sadly similar as the TinCaps prevailed 5-3.

GAME ONE
Things got out of hand early as Lake County starter Micah Miniard. After a scoreless first inning, it all unraveled for Miniard as he gave up four runs in the second inning and three more in the third inning. He did not survive the third, only lasting two and two thirds innings allowing seven runs all earned on eight hits. Two of the eight hits were home runs accounting for three runs. Miniard was tagged with the loss and falls to 4-12 with a 7.26 ERA. Fort Wayne starter Reggie Lawson picked up the win. Lawson went six innings allowing one run on five hits, one base on balls while striking out seven Captains. With the win Lawson improves to 4-6 with a 5.10 ERA.

Tee only offense for Lake County was courtesy of a solo home run by Logan Ice in the fifth inning. The home run by Ice was his ninth of the season.

GAME TWO
Was a little more watchable than game one, but not by much as the Captains took the lead early and led 2-0 after one inning. The Captains two runs in the first inning came courtesy of two run home run by Li-Jen Chu. Conner Capel had reached base on a single and road home on the Chu homer. The long ball by Chu was his 15th of the season.

After the Chu home run thing went south for the Captains as the TinCaps scored two runs in the second inning off Captains starter Cameron Mingo and then three more in the third, which was Mingo's last inning of work.

The Captains added another run when Jose Vincente led off the fifth inning with a solo home run. The home run for Vincente was his fifth of the season.

Mingo took the loss for Lake County and falls to 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA. Only three of the five runs Mingo yielded were earned. Reliever Hansel (& Gretel) Rodriguez got the win for the TinCaps in relief. Rodriguez pitched the final two scoreless innings striking out two Captains. With the win Rodriguez improves to 6-9 with a 3.95 ERA.

The Captains and TinCaps will finish the three-game series on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. Lefty Morejon will be on the mound for TinCaps. Morejon is 1-0 with a 4.82 ERA. Zach Plesac will make the start for Lake County on the hill. Plesac, a righty is 1-0 with an 0.69 ERA..
