(ORWELL, OH) — .Entering Friday night’s contest at Grand Valley the Painesville Harvey Red Raiders were 3-2, 2-0 in the Chagrin Valley Conference and winners of three straight overall. The host Mustangs were 1-4 and 0-2 in the CVC. By the end of the night the Red Raiders win streak was four and 3-0 in the CVC as they throttled the Mustangs 42-0.

The Red Raiders struck early and often in the first half. Their first score of the game with 6:02 left in the first quarter when senior Blaise Collins ran the ball in from 3 yards out. The extra point by Antonio Soto-Rodriguez was good.

The Red Raiders potent offense struck again less than six minutes later with :24.4 left in the quarter when Shahn Alston began his big night rushing the ball into the endzone from 16 yards out. The extra point was no good and Harvey led 13-0.

Things did not improve for the Mustangs in the second quarter. With 7:10 left on the clock Alston reached the endzone for the second time. This time from 15 yards out to give Harvey a 20-0 lead after Soto-Rodriguez converted the extra point.

The final TD of the first half came at the 3:53 mark of the 2nd quarter when Alston again rumbled in from 3 yards and Soto-Rodriguez made it 27-0 with the extra point.

The third quarter began the same way the first two quarters did with an Alston TD. On the third play of the half Alston rumbled and stumbled 41 yards breaking several tackles before crossing the goal line for the TD. Soto-Rodriguez hit the extra point and with 10:50 left in the 3rd quarter Harvey led 34-0.

Just 7:47 later Harvey scored on the second play after getting the ball back when Chris Burt sprinted 55 yards to the endzone putting Harvey on top 42-0 after a 2pt conversion pass was successful.

By the second half the Mustangs were down to their third quarterback as their starter Nathan Boiarski was injured on the first drive. Then on the final play of the first half Sammy Goforth the backup was injured when he was sacked. Boiarski was all-county in 2021. Two other starters James Phillips and Brady Bogdan also missed the game due to injuries they suffered during their loss to Hawken.

Though the Mustangs were shorthanded it is apparent that any team that faces Harvey the rest of season are going to have their hands full with the Red Raiders offense.

The Red Raiders will host the Youngstown Chaney Cowboys next week at the Britt in Painesville at 7 pm.
