Blue Devils escape against Cardinal 3-0 
Tuesday night at Wickliffe Memorial Stadium the Wickliffe Blue Devils (3-1-1) welcomed in the visiting Cardinal Huskies for a CVC boys soccer 
match. Entering the game, the contest looked like it could be very lopsided with a veteran Wickliffe roster led by Seniors Jonny Abramczyk, Daniel Kishmarton, Nick Telisman, Nick Colbert and JT Brenneman. The game turned out to be a close contest 3-0.

The game was scoreless for most of the first half until Abramczyk unloaded past Cardinal Senior Goalkeeper Austin Miller at the 33:10 mark to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead.

The Abramczyk goal was the only score of the game in the first half for Wickliffe on 14 shots. Miller had 13 saves in the first 40 minutes for Cardinal.

The Huskies had only one shot in the first half leaving Brenneman with not much activity in the Wickliffe goal.

Just under six minutes into the second half at the 45:59 mark, Abramczyk struck against with a laser past Miller into the Cardinal net giving the Blue Devils the 2-0 edge.

The final goal of the contest came on a penalty kick by Junior Jimmy Overberger and sent the crowd into a frenzy at the 58:52 mark.

The Blue Devils too 26 shots in the game and the Huskies took just one. Miller had 18 saves for the Huskies Brenneman did not record a save for Wickliffe as the one shot for Cardinal went off the post.

With the win the Blue Devils improve to 4-1-1. They will be in action next on Thursday night at against the Madison Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m.
