(EASTLAKE, OH) - Wet grounds on Monday night forced the Lake County Captains to postpone the first game of their four-game series with the visiting Bowling Green Hot Rods at Classic Park. The series began on Tuesday night and the two teams split the twin bill. The Hot Rods took game one 6-3 in 10 innings and the Captains took game two 13-4.

In the first game the Hot Rods and Captains each scored two runs in the second inning and then neither team scored again until the tenth inning when the Hot Rods scored four runs and the Captains could only come up with one and the scheduled seven inning game finally ended in 10 innings. Josh Rolette and Marcos Gonzalez each had doubles and an RBI for the Captains in the loss.

Nick Padilla picked up the win in relief for Bowling Green. With the win he improves to 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA. Dakody Clemmer took the loss for Lake County. With the loss Clemmer falls to 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA.

In game two the Captains took an early lead with single runs in the first and second inning to take the early lead 2-0. The Hot Rods tied the game up with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning and then the bottom fell out in the bottom of the inning for Bowling Green as the Captains scored nine times. Saying the inning was complete disaster for the Hot Rods would be a major understatement, especially when referring to Hot Rods reliever Chris Gau. Gau issued two base on balls and four wild pitches before being removed from the game without recording an out. Hot Rods infielder Connor Hollis finished the inning in relief, but not before allowing a two-run home run to Will Benson. The home run was Benson’s first of the season. Benson was 2 for 3 in the game with three runs scored and three RBI. Mitch Reeves who was just called up from Mahoning Valley went 3 for 3, with a home run, 3 runs scored and two RBI. Miguel Lara suffered the loss for the Hot Rods, he gave up six runs, all earned in one and one third innings. With the loss he falls to 0-1 with a 27.00 ERA. Aaron Pinto picked up the win in relief for the Captains. With the win Pinto improves to 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA.

The two clubs will square off on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Lefty Shane McClanahan will take the mound for the Hot Rods. McClanahan is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Luis Oviedo will be on the mound for the Captains. Oviedo a righty will is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA.
