(EASTLAKE, OH) - The Lake County Captains returned home on Friday night for a four game homestand against the Great Lakes Loons.

As has been a theme this season for the Captains, the Loons got on the board early in the ​first inning with two runs off Lake County starter Juan Hillman.  Coming into the game through 47 games the Captains had surrendured 32 runs in the first inning, Their worst inning of the season tied with the third.  After tonight it is now the worst with 34 runs having been allowed in the first.

The Loons added another run in the fifth inning off Hillman, that run was unearned and gave the Loons a 3-0 lead.

The Captains pulled to within one run in the eighth inning with two runs.  Ulysses Cantu drew a base on balls to start the inning and the Todd Isaacs tripled to right center field and Cantu scored the Captains first run.  Isaacs then scored two hitters later when Tyler Friis doubled to center field.

The Captains also did something they have done a lot in 2018, scored late.  The Captains had scored 15 runs in the ninth inning coming into tonight's contest.  On this night it only took two more runs to capature the win and those came after Jonathan Laureano pinch hit for Josh Rolette and doubled to the center field wall with one out.  Laureano strolled home when 

The Captains and Loons will play game two of the series at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday night.  Righty Jose Chacin will be on the mound for the Loons.  Chacin, is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA.  Gregori Vasquez will be on the mound for Lake County.  Vasquez is a Righty and is 1-1 with a 3.57 ERA.
