Captains get rain shortened win over Loons 4-2
(EASTLAKE, OH) - The Lake County Captains and Great Lakes Loons played the rubber game of their three-game series on Thursday night under rainy conditions at Classic Park. The Captains were the victors in game one and the Loons captured game two. The Captains took the series by winning the rain shortened affair 4-2 in front of 678 fans.

The Loons scored first in the top of the third inning courtesy of a solo home run by Luke Heyer, it was his seventh long ball of the season.

The Captains came right back in the bottom of the inning with two runs to take the lead. Naylor drew a base on balls to leadoff the inning, then unfortunately Tyler Freeman was hit in the right elbow with a pitch by Loons starter Stephen Kolek. Freeman stayed in the game but exited the game one inning later. Will Benson struck out for the first out of the inning, then Ruben Cardenas reached on a fielding error by Loons second baseman Jacob Amaya to load the bases. Mitch Reeves who has been reliable all season with men on base came through again as he singled to left field driving home Naylor and Freeman to pull the Captains ahead 2-1. Kolek was able to get the final two outs to avoid any further damage.

The Captains added their final two runs of the game in the fourth inning when Daniel Schneemann singled to open the inning. After Hosea Nelson struck out Naylor blasted his third home run of the season over the right-center field fence to put the Captains on top 4-1.

The Loons added one more run in the sixth inning before the rain came and ended the contest.
Alex Royalty who made the start for Lake County picked up the win. He pitched a complete game five and one third innings allowing two runs, both earned on five hits. He issued one base on balls and struck out four Loons. With the win Royalty improves to 2-4 with a 4.75 ERA. Kolek suffered the loss for the Loons.
