(CLEVELAND, OH) - The Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins defeated the Cleveland Monsters 3-1 on the Monsters chuck a bear night. The Monster’s missed some golden opportunities and just could not get a bounce to go their way.
The Monsters got off to a slow start in the first and weren’t able to find their legs. It led to the Penguins first goal of the game coming at 9:02 with Anthony Angello going to the net. It went off Vehvilainen pads then Doyle Somerbys stick and was kicked in by Vehvilainen. That would be all for the first.

The Monsters came out wanting the chuck-a-bear goal, playing hard and physical to start the second. However, the Penguins got their lead to 2-0 at 8:40. It was scored by Anthony Angello after a wicked wrist shot. The Monsters got a power play goal at 14:25 with Dillion Simpson shooting the puck from the top of the faceoff circle and scored, Dano was screening the Penguins goalie in front. Assists went to Jakob Lilja and Adam Clendening. This would be all for the scoring in the second. But it continued to be very physical game.

The third period, was a un eventful one. The only goal was an empty net goal by Thomas Di Pauli. That would be it 3-1 Penguin win.

I do not have keys to follow up on as I didn’t cover the game last night.

Cleveland started Veini Vehvilainen in the net and stopped 26/28 shots saved. The penguins countered with Dustin Tokarski in net who stopped 27/28 shots. First star of the game was Anthony Angello who had 2 goals, second star to Kevin Czuczman with 2 assists and 3rd star to Dillion Simpson with a goal.

Next up for Cleveland is the Milwaukee Admirals who are currently the #1 team in the American Hockey League with 44 points and a record of 20-4-2-2. The first key will be to not take dumb penalties as Milwaukee is a very physical team. Second key will be to screen out in front as good things happen we do. The final key will be to continue the solid special teams.
