(EASTLAKE, OH) – Sunday afternoon at Classic Park the Lake County Captains and Great Lakes Loons played the finale of their six-game series. Entering Sunday, the Loons had a 3-2 edge in the series. The Loons offense continued to dominate the Captains pitching staff easily defeating the Captains 10-2 to take the series 4-2.

The Captains once again scored first when Micah Pries smacked his fourth home run of the season to lead off the second inning and give the Captains a short lived 1-0 lead.

The Loons took control of the game once again in the fourth and fifth innings combining for seven runs. The three runs in the fourth inning came courtesy of a two-run home run by Brandon Lewis, his 18th of the season and Eddys Leonard hit a solo home run which was his fifth of the season. The four run fifth inning was a result of four singles, a Captains error, and a two-run home run by Leonard, his second of the game and sixth of the season giving the Loons a six-run advantage at 7-1. All the runs were charged to Captains starter Mason Hickman, four of the seven however were unearned.

The Captains started to chip away at the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning Cleveland Indians outfielder Harold Ramirez who is playing with Lake County on a rehab assignment blasted his first home run with the Captains closing the gap to 7-2.

The Loons added two more runs in the eighth inning on a two-run home by Andy Pages his 26th of the season which is a new single season record for the Loons franchise record. As a side note the Captains franchise record for home runs in a season is 29 held by Emanual Tapia who accomplished the feat in 2017.

The final Loons run of the game came in the ninth inning when Leonard hit his third home run of the game to cap off the scoring and give the Loons a 10-2 lead.

Reliever Jose Hernandez picked up the win for the Loons improving to 3-1 with a 5.40 ERA. Hickman took the loss for Lake County and falls to 7-7 with a 5.00 ERA.

The Captains will be off on Monday and travel to South Bend, Indiana to take on the South Bend Cubs on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
