Captains win fourth straight with 4-2 win over Dragons
         BY TIM SHIRER
(EASTLAKE, OH) - The Lake County Captains and Dayton Dragons played game three of their series on Friday night. The Captains took the first two games 1-0 and 3-2. Lake County made it three in a row over the Dragons with a 4-2 win on fireworks night sending the nice crowd of 4,626 home very happy.

Milan Tolentino led off the bottom of the first with a double off Dayton starter Evan Kravetz. Joe Naranjo then struck out. Alexfri Planez then hit a routine ground ball to Dragons third baseman Tyler Callihan and Callihan made a terrible throw to first base. Planez was safe and Tolentino scored giving Lake County a 1-0 lead.

The Captains added on in the second inning. With one out in the frame Aaron Bracho drew a base on balls. After Zac Fascia flew out Korey Holland doubled to left field driving home Bracho. Tolentino then singled and drove home Holland giving the Captains 3-0.

The Captains increased their lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning off Kravetz when Planez parked his 12th home run of the season deep over the left field wall.

The Dragons got on the board and cut the lead in half with two runs in the sixth inning when Matheu Nelson drew a base on balls to start the inning off Captains reliever Braunny Munoz. After Munoz got Callihan to fly out Ruben Ibarra doubled to center field moving Nelson to third base. Nelson did score when Munoz uncorked a wild pitch with Austin Hendrick at the plate, cutting the Captains lead to 4-1. Munoz looked like he might get out of the trouble when he struck out Hendricks, but J.V. Martinez came to the plate and doubled right field scoring Ibarra with the Dragons second run. That was the end of the night for Munoz as he was replaced on the mound by Alaska Abney. Abney immediately issued a base on balls to Garrett Wolforth. Then he uncorked a wild pitch moving Martinez to third base. Abney was able to recover and struck out Justice Thompson to end the threat.

Abney picked up the win for Lake County improving to 4-2 on the season with a 3.82 ERA. Zach Hart pitched the final inning for the Captains picking up his third save lowering his ERA to 4.10. Kravetz took the loss for the Dragons falling to 4-4 with a 4.17 ERA.

The Captains and Dragons will play game four on Saturday night at 7:00 pm. Righthander Thomas Farr will be on the mound for the Dragons. Farr, a righthander was a fifth-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Reds in the 2021 July Draft out of the University of South Carolina where he spent two years after transferring from NW Florida State College where he also spent two seasons. Farr is 0-4 with a 6.12 ERA. Tommy Mace will take the hill for the Captains. Mace, also a righty was drafted 69th overall in the 2021 July Draft by the Cleveland Indians out of the University of Florida. Mace is 0-4 with a 6.02 ERA.
