(EASTLAKE, OH) - The Lake County Captains and Lansing Lugnuts played game two of their three game series on Sunday afternoon.  The 2,809 fans in attendance at Classic Park went home very happy as the Captains were able to notch their fourth victory in a row with a 6-2 win.

The Captains got on the board in the second inning with a single run.  The run came when Dane Hutcheon doubled to center field and then was driven home by Miguel Eladio who singled giving the Captains the early 1-0 lead.

The Captains extended the lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning with another run in the fourth inning.  Jose Vicente doubled to lead off the inning and then with two outs Eladio drove in his second run of the game when he singled to center field.  Eladio was thrown out at second base trying to stretch the single into a double.

The Lugnuts briefly tied the game 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning when they put two runs on the board off Captains starter Juan Hillman.

The fifth inning was the last inning of the game and year for Hillman who picked up his sixth win of the year.  Hillman struggled early in his second year in Lake County, but over his last 12 starts the lefty is 6-4 with a 4.22 ERA.

The Captains took the lead back for good in the bottom of the fifth inning with a single run.  The run came when Eric Rodriguez singled to lead off the inning.  Daniel Schneemann the grounded into a fielder's choice and Rodriguez was retired at second base. Schneemann advanced to second on a throwing error by Lansing shortstop Vinny Capra. Todd Isaacs then singled to right field and Schneemann scored the go ahead run giving the Captains the 3-2 lead.

The Captains added another single run in the sixth inning when Vicente doubled to left field and was driven home three batters later when Eladio singled for his third RBI of the game giving the Captains a 4-2 lead.

Lake County put the final two runs of the game on the board in the seventh inning when with one out Will Benson drew a base on balls.  Two hitters later Vicente went deep belting his 17th home run of the season over the left field fence giving the Captains a 6-2 lead.

Lansing starter Kyle Weatherly took the loss.  Weatherly went six innings allowing four runs, three earned on nine hits.  He also issued one base on balls while striking out five Lake County batters.  With the loss Weatherly falls to 3-3 with a 3.70 ERA.

The two clubs will finish the 2018 season on Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.  Turner Larkins will make the start for the Lugnuts.  Larkin, a righthander is 4-5 with a 3.65 ERA.  Gregori Vasquez will make the start for Lake County.  Vasquez is 6-7 with a 4.10 ERA.
